Research lines
The Assistive System Lab focuses on design, construction and programming of devices (robots, ambient intelligence and wearables) meant to provide assistance to people with special needs. A major effort is centred around assistance personalization. Main research topics are related to:
- Collaborative control involving cooperation between persons and machines, aiming at increasing human efficiency and decreasing disagreement with the machines.
- Assisted navigation using assistive robotics providing physical support (e.g., wheelchairs or walkers) able to learn and reinforce the attainable human skills and to adapt to unexpected manoeuvres.
- Integration and modeling of data extracted from onboard sensors, environment sensors and wearables to detect potential problems of the assistive system user in a proactive way.
